SYDNEY

The last day of my trip was spent in Sydney. I had just had a full day in San Francisco, caught the midnight flight out, spent 14hrs in the air (about 3hrs sleep) and arrived in Sydney at 6am and promptly spent the day sight-seeing. I was a little out of it.

I caught the train from the airport into Circular Quay, then walked around looking for the Opera House and suddenly there it was. And just across the water was the giant coathanger itself, the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Two great Aussie icons and here I was looking at them.

Not sure what to do next, I walked around the edge of the harbour for a while, then caught a ferry to Taronga Zoo. Its over the other side of the harbour and definately has the best view of any zoo I've ever been to. I highly recommend the chairlift - the easiest way to get to the top, then meander your way down before repeating and picking a different way down.

About mid afternoon, I called a friend and tried getting the bus out to his place, but I got off too early and had to walk for a little longer than I expected. (If someone tells you to get off and Randwick - thats not at the big sign that says "Randwick" apparently). We had tea on the beach, then I got the bus back to the airport, going past Bondi Beach in the process (Three Aussie icons in one day!). By the time I reached the airport, I was pretty well out of it, but I was almost home...
