San Pedro de Atacama
San Pedro was our first town in Chile. It was a little surreal driving down
from Bolivia, it's a long way down, San Pedro is over 2000m, but compared to where
we had been, that was nothing. It was nice to be able to walk around without
wheezing for a change.
San Pedro itself feels like a tourist town. Admittedly, I did not see
too many small towns in Chile, but I don't think they're all like that. There
are lots of restaurants and places to stay; nice trees and its just a nice place
to walk around and unwind.
The first afternoon we headed out to the Valley of the Moon which is quite
spectacular. Don't worry, I've got lots of photos of the rocks.
The second day we decided a bbq would be the way to go. Manuel found
a place with bbqs and a pool. We all chipped in for food; managed to cook it;
eat it and then lounge beside the pool. A lot of fun.
