Pisac

Pisac, also known as Pisaq was the first "official" Inca site we visited. (Excluding Cusco and Lima). It's on top of a mountain and has amazing views out over the valley. It has huge terraces and a maze of semi-restored stone buildings. There is also a walk down to the valley floor and a cave, which we didn't visit.

On one of the hills opposite there is a cliff covered with holes. Each hole was a tomb and when you begin to count them, there are a lot of people buried there.

It is not as grand as some of the other sites we visited, but it is in excellent condition and I suspect more of a farming site than one of temples. It seemed to have a much more down to earth sort of feel to it.
