Lima

I had one day before the first day of the tour, so I got to spend it wandering around Miraflores and fighting the effects of jetlag.

I can recommend going for a walk along the edge of the Pacific and just wandering the gardens. I also took a city bus tour which took in the sites and a visit to the catacombs which I'd recommend to anyone who wasn't afraid of skulls.

The following day I met Jansen, my roomie for the next three weeks, we wandered around the ruins of Huaca Pucllana an Inca site literally right in the middle of town. Its only half the size it once was and it was made out of adobe (clay bricks). The number of bricks is mind boggling.

That evening we met up with the rest of the group, had an amazing dinner at Panchita. I've never heard of the chef, but looking for a URL I find its considered one of the top restaurants in Peru. I can believe it. If you're there, go in. Get the swordfish kabab, make sure you get it juicy and they're orgasmically good. Talk about setting the bar high for the rest of the trip.

Alas, my time in Lima was short, as we flew out the following morning for Cusco.
