Cusco

We flew straight into Cusco from Lima and it was an interesting experience. Sea level to 3400m. It all feels fine until you discover you're beginning to hyperventilate. Things you take for granted leave you wheezing and don't do anything fast for the first few days

I am not known for my speed, but after visiting Cusco I've discover I am optomised for altitude. It did not take me long to get the reputation for being at the back, I preferred to think I was the rear guard. I might be slow, but I'd get there in the end.

Cusco was a great place to wander around. One of those places where you'd never know what was around the next corner. It might be something new, or it could be an Incan temple or anything in between.

We arrived on a festival day where the younger set run around with water bombs, silly string, foam and anything else they can get their hands on, lobbing it at each other and any tourist who gets in the way. I felt sorry for the girls. The locals would show their admiration by coating them in foam, but at least it was all in fun.

The chocolate museum is a must stop. Don't order a coffee, get a hot chocolate. Mmmm... I could do with one at the moment.
